Will my current windows be suitable for installation into the existing boxes?

Usually, yes. However, this will depend on a few factors such as the overall thickness of the existing sash. We routinely carry out a full assessment before commencing any work and will advise you on your best available options.

But what if I live in a listed building or conservation area?

This is not necessarily a problem, although you will need to contact your local conservation officer to find out. In our experience, there can be discrepancies between different local planning authorities – some insist on restoration or like for like replacement
.
We will be happy to meet with your local council to discuss the options available. For a small fee, we can also compile a Planning Application Report for Listed Building Consent.

Will my new windows really look the same?!

Yes. Our joinery team are highly skilled and experienced. The chances are, they’ve worked on windows just like your’s.

What kind of guarantee do you offer?

We guarantee the wood for 50 years, the glass for 10 years and the paint for 25 years.

What areas do you cover?

We fit sash windows in Oxford & Bristol, and surrounding areas in Somerset and Oxfordshire

Will the work be carried out on-site or will you need to take my windows away?

Only the installation and decoration of your boxes will be carried out on-site, while the new sash will be fully manufactured and painted at our workshop.

Will there be much disruption, mess or noise?

We always do our best to keep dust and noise levels to a minimum. We can install your new sashes from inside, so there’ll be no need for scaffolding. All indoor areas that we use will be protected by carpet protectors and clean dust sheets. All rubbish and materials are removed from the site when we’re finished. We pride ourselves on our tidy work ethic.

Do you always install draught-proofing? And is it available as a separate service?

We strongly advise that you opt for draught proofing, although ultimately it is up to you. This is because a high volume of warm air is lost through the gaps surrounding sash windows, so heat retention would be significantly reduced without draught proofing.

Will you paint the windows?

The windows themselves will arrive fully painted, ready to be fitted. We will also paint the existing surrounding boxes, after any restoration work has been completed.

Will I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. We require a deposit to cover the cost of materials being ordered.

Will I need to sign any kind of contract?

Yes. You will need to sign a contract with us, which states our full terms and conditions; this is for both your security and ours.

Will I need to stay in while the work is carried out?

No. As long as you’re happy to leave our team with the keys to your property, we can leave you to carry on with your day. Rest assured we will always leave your property tidy and secure at the end of each day. Like most building work, the renovation process can be noisy, so you may well prefer to be elsewhere. Naturally, if you need or prefer to remain at home then we can work around you.
